EPISODE 24: THE GOATS

The sports media has made the discussion over the greatest player ever in each respective league a front and center topic to help draw ratings and fan interests. But, I think the discussion distracts from great moments along the journey.

I  think the debates are great entertainment to listen to and evaluate the points made. But it is entertainment for media companies, not the actual sports themselves. Sports are driven by storylines, but the narratives can cloud the action at times.

For instance, instead of appreciation the greatness that was the collegiate career of Caitlin Clark, the media debated whether she was in the GOAT conversation and other narratives that distracts from what she did during her time at Iowa University.

The media pundits making these arguments are driving agendas and underlying interests. But they are also making an economic impact on the particular sport, good or bad. Controversy drives attention, but narratives can blunt the potential growth opportunities.

In the above content, I discussed the topics of the greatest players in each of our major sports. Even though it was not a subject I like to discuss. Please enjoy.
