My name is Christopher Peter and I am the political economist, investor, and podcaster behind the original content you experience on The Christopher Peter Review.
Here are my topics for this week.
LEADERSHIP MATTERS:
The quality of skills a worker possesses is important. But what is more important in my opinion is the quality of leader guiding the collection of workers or teammates towards a desired goal. Many people in management positions are not good leaders. Many cannot develop team members to get the best out of them, strategize to reach organizational objectives in the most efficient manner, or plan well enough to think beyond the tasks for the day right in front of them. If you want a better team, focus not only on those doing the work, but those leading the way as well.
TIMING IS IMPORTANT:
There are many factors in being successful in any endeavor. Having a great plan, possessing the right skills, and accessing the proper resources. One factor people miss is the importance of timing. Some of the greatest ideas have not come to fruition from the first attempt. Please click on the image above to experience my comments on timing.
DEALING WITH UNCERTAINTY:
We all want to predict the future. In reality, most people are not that great at it. During my MBA coursework, I remember a professor discussing the idea that all forecasts are essentially wrong. But the most useful ones are the ones that allow you to make the decision regardless of how close the forecast is to the actual result. Rather than obsessing about getting the exact number, focusing on understanding the direction you are going and being able to deal with growth or potential softness in product movement. Something that we could leverage in daily life. Focus more on our processes than the predicting the actual result. Good processes will lead to good results. In the above piece, I discuss just how difficult it is to predict our economy. Better to focus on the decision making process in an uncertain economy.
