PRESS vs PROPAGANDA

CRC

Welcome to The CRC Team Channel.

The stated purpose of the media is to educate the public of what is taking place in society. And to provide insight to the general public about the happenings with power brokers that may impact our every day lives and outcomes. That is why we view the press as a vital institution.

That esteem or high regard is somewhat lost when we realize that the actions are not consistent with the social purpose. When there is disconnect between what we believe an institution should be doing and what they are actually doing. When the fine line between press and propaganda is broken and you can no longer trust the product.

There is are many institutions or professions where our collective views differ from the actual performance of those in the fields. We hold these individuals in high esteem without connecting them to the quality or lack thereof in the products or services they put forth in society.

I believe that good journalism still exist, but it is not as widely available as it once was. Given the environment these organizations operate in and the industries they compete in the focus shifted away from the purpose and in favor of catering to specific groups to cultivate a reliable advertising base.

In my podcast episode below, I better explain the issue by looking at how an important sporting event was covered. Please experience this podcast and click on my image above for more episodes!
