SERIES: THE BIG PICTURE

CRC

Welcome!

To some degree, we may have lost a balance between validating our emotions with accepting reality. We place a greater importance on how we feel about something, especially the initial feeling before the full scope is known, than when we fully understand the why, how, and what. And the problem with that is rewriting the mental narrative to defend the initial reaction.

Personally, I always want to see the full picture before shaping an opinion and then challenge that initial opinion with critical thinking and questioning gaps. I do not want to let emotions block what lessons that could be realized from  situations.

In the topics for this week's podcast episode, I focused on the lessons and impactful takeaways more than feeling or emotional reaction.

CRC SOCIAL:
There are some things that you are not able to appreciate what it could be ahead of time. Until it happens and then you realize the event exceeded your every expectation. That is what sports sometimes that does to us. We may not see or understand what potential there is in a team we support. An athlete we cheer. Until we see it well beyond our imagination. For fans of the Knicks and Hurricanes, they are feeling that. And fans of the UFC, we are feeling that after Freedom 250.

BRAND REVIEWS:
The challenge many business and their leaders have is taking the concept one has and make it a consistent reality. How to make the promises to the consumer and vision of the organization become reality that customers accept is the goal. Some organizations do a great job of scaling their operations and maintaining their brand identity with each new location. Others struggle to expand their culture to new employees.

PUBLIC POLICY:
Too many people obsess about what others make and not see what they create. Many times because there is a reality that there is a creativity gap between that person and the person commenting. Rather than feeling triggered or angry, a better approach would be to try to understand the value created by the person and how that value was monetized. Understanding the process can help you improve you career decisions and how you market yourself. Jealousy and anger rarely benefits you. Innovation and adapting will.
