STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS 2025

CHRISTOPHER PETER

Welcome to The CRC Team Channel.

The Florida Panthers won their second straight Stanley Cup in their third straight appearance. Depending on what happens in free agency, I would assume they will still be amongst the favorites for next season as well.

That team just plays so well together. They are so aggressive and consistent each and every game. They seem to completely understand what kind of team they are. What their strengths and weaknesses are. And have a formula that is repetitively effective.

Their opponents in the Edmonton Oilers seemed somewhat timid or at least unsure of what they were facing and how to adjust at moments. The Oilers just did not compete in the same manner as last year. There was that game where they turned into a goon squad. Game 4 where they showed some life.

But, they just could not keep up with the Panthers and keep them out of their zone. So many mistakes that gave the Panthers possession in their own zone when they were exiting towards the neutral zone. Turnovers that turned immediately into scoring opportunities.

Overall, I think it was an interesting series to watch. The Panthers just keep getting better and South Beach celebrates once more.

Another blue chip franchise is sold in the NBA. All following the latest media deal that was considered innovative and highly lucrative. Mark Cuban parted ways with the Dallas Mavericks. The Boston Celtics found a new balance sheet to land on following another championship. And now the Los Angeles Lakers are completing a sale.

The Lakers and Celtics are the 2 premier franchises in all of the NBA and amongst the most recognizable global sports brands in the world. One would think that these teams would remain under control of a family until a multinational conglomerate came calling. Besides the massive payday that comes with a sale, I think it is surprising to see people selling blue chip assets when their future values may be higher once the new media deal fully kicks in.

One may think that the current owner may want to get out before the potential decline. The NBA is experiencing ratings declines in traditional television audiences, but believes new media will be a boon for them as they are following where the audience is telling them to go. Interesting to see assets being sold before the fruits of their labor are realized. Or maybe it is the perfect opportunity to materialize your  profit and allow another investor the opportunity to earn as well.
